Happy Hanukkah! (and apologies if I spelled that wrong...)
I don't know what it's like in everyone else's parts of the world, but by me I feel like I'm trapped in Holodrum... 68° weather in the middle of December? WTF? Gimme some snow!
First up on the news reel, before I forget: Check out the new Tursiops Truncatus Software web page (http://tts.cjb.net/)! It's been given a face lift with Illustrator, and there's a few upcoming projects listed (like Photosynthesis).
Our second story is not really news per-se (not like that's a problem, and if you think it is, you can just pick up and go home because not only don't I like you, but I don't like your attitude, and I don't like your face, and I don't like your mamma! UHH!) -- my world was rocked today when I learned that the dude who did the voice of Spyro the Dragon in the first Spyro game is one and the same as the two-bit slut punk who voiced that wretched, foul THING that plagued the Taco Bell ads for so long. When I heard the news, I crawled into a corner and wept uncontrollably.
Next story -- possibly the biggest news story of the year -- HalfLight fans (yes, HalfLight, not Half-Life) rejoice, Gaping Wolf Software has released HalfLight AE (anniversary edition)! Head on over to http://www.gapingwolf.com/ for the full scoop.
Keep Opera (or whatever you use) open... I found a cool site a few weeks ago that is one of the few forces strong enough to persuade me to download MP3's over my dial-up connection: http://remix.overclocked.org It's a huge bank of techno remixes of video game tunes. Woot.
While we're on a bit of a video game theme here, it would be an absolute shame not to mention Super Smash Bros.: Melee. I haven't played it yet, but from what I've heard of this thing I really need to play, ad infinitum. Of course, I'd need a GameCube first, but it wouldn't be the first time I've bought a system just for one game, and this time I'd be buying it for two.
To close out this evening's report, a couple movie tidbits: The makers of the "Land Before Time" series finally lost track and stopped numbering their movies... their latest one would have been VIII, I think. The producers say they plan to continue the "Land Before Time" series until the final movie, "The Land at the End of Time" which chronicles the Heat Death of the Universe and will be released six months prior.
And last, I saw Ocean's Eleven a couple days ago. It was fun, about what I expected given the previews and commercials and stuff. Plus it gave me the perfect cover to camp out in the movie theatre until the 19th. WOOT!
That's all, beeyotches. Keep it real,
Ky
P.S. The 2nd annual IdHOP Christmas special starts Dec. 20. Students (or anyone, really) home for the holidays, if you have another e-mail address you'd like me to send these to, just let me know by then.
